If you have done your marketing research, you will not be surprised to learn that over 50% of all buying decisions are made at point of sale. So even if you have been able to get customers into your takeaway, restaurant, store or office, they are still not guaranteed sales.

However, by carefully and cleverly combining your existing printed media and advertising with quality point of sale promotions, you gain a new advertising edge and potentially even more sales. Don’t disregard the opportunities within your store or office for their advertising potential. In fact, in house advertising is very effective as you don’t have to worry about paying for space on a billboard, in a magazine or on the side of a bus, as the space you are advertising in is already your own.

In this way you are not restricted by your budget, or by the medium as you can use the walls, the floor, the reception desk or the coffee table in your foyer for your point of sale advertising. Use banners to tell your customers as soon as they walk in about your current specials and change them fortnightly, monthly or six monthly as your offers change. And always have your marketing materials on display and in use; if you have printed note pads, make sure your receptionist is using one for phone message, if you have had personalised pens made, make sure they are on the desk for your customers to use when filling out forms or signing a receipt, and if you can, offer these promotional items to your customers as they leave, so they are taking away your business image and your contact details.
