CMYK. Some of the most important letters you need to know when having any printing completed for your business. You are likely to make your colour selections from the CMYK range and you need to know what these four little letters mean and how you can best utilize this printing system.

This is what these all important letters stand for and the CMYK printing process involves you choosing colours which can be made up from combinations of these base colours. The Key colour is actually black and the acronym comes from early printing when the black printing plate was actually called the Key plate.

This plate got its name because it was the one which contained the ‘key’ information and you can see how this works when you look at an image which has been broken down into its CMYK components. When you look at the information on the cyan, magenta and yellow plates individually, it is hard to make out the image, but looking at the black plate alone, you can see the most detail – it is key to the image.

Now why should you use CMYK printing? Because it is the most economical way to print full colour images in the highest quality. Using the CMYK printing process you will get high quality images and clear text in your printing projects and it is also the most affordable printing method to use.
